Daniel & Florence at campfire

2009

Lianti has been travelling back to Zambia long before Impact Zambia began. She met Daniel and Florence Mayapi on her first trip to Zambia in 2009 when she was searching support and opportunities to implement a sewing training program for 50 learners sponsored by Rotary International, under the Share Your Knowledge name. Lianti learned about the Mayapi’s church planting and missionary work in the rural areas of southwestern Zambia, as well as their desire to have a training centre and Bible school. They offered to help arrange sewing classes in their area. In 2010 an opportunity to build churches in overseas countries while Trinity Church in Goderich were building theirs came about, and Lianti introduced the church to Daniel and Florence, and New Life Tabernacle and Cell Ministries.  Shortly after, with the support of Trinity Church and iTeams Canada, Impact Zambia was born. A team returns to support the Share Your Knowledge sewing training every year.  In 2012 Impact Zambia received a generous donation to start with the Life Impact Training Centre! The first official Impact Zambia trip was in 2013 and focused on supporting the Share Your Knowledge sewing training.

2014

In 2014, the interns from iTeams Canada (Matt and Andrew) spent three months in Zambia. Bonnie visited Zambia for the first time to teach, with Lianti supporting.

The construction work at the training centre started with church members pitching in to help. Everyone worked on it: Men, Women and Children.

2023

Most years between 2014 and 2023, a team has returned to Zambia to complete projects within the Life Impact Learning Centre and  Zambia itself. In 2023 Lianti meet with team members of Engineering Ministries International (EMI) to create a seven-year master plan for the Life Impact Training Centre (LITC) She also returned with a new Blog, the preamble to this site; for the first time, Lianti and the team were able to post in real time about the trip, so the Impact Zambia supporters could be updated almost daily on both the good and the devastating news coming from the team. This allowed for meaningful and specific prayers from the team for the month they spent in Zambia.

2024

This year the team from Canada is looking forward to, God willing, help host a 3-day conference for 500-600 people from southwestern Zambia and the New Life Tabernacle community. That will be followed by the 30-year celebration of the ministry of New Life Tabernacle and Cell Ministries. The team will offer their knowledge and skills in the following areas: Cooking, Safe Food Handling, Cooking, Kids Crafts, Helping those with Disabilities, Building Maintenance, Training centre development planning, Stress, anxiety & depression, Tree of Life self-development, Trauma, and Massage techniques for pain release. There will also be a sports program during the conference, and experiencing many choirs, music and skits. We also plan to visit Mission of Love, the Nyawa high-school, and the sewing group in that area before heading back to a couple days of rest in Livingstone. Another exciting opportunity will be the visit by Pastor Bruce McEvoy and Trey Poythress from Chapelstreet Church in Illinois, USA as part of their visit to other ministries in Zambia. Praying for safe traveling for everyone involved.
